Who can make an account
Grown-up accounts are for people 18 or older who teach or lead students: teachers, program leaders, school and district admins, and homeschool parents. Give us true details about yourself and your organization, and keep them up to date on your account page. One account per person.
Students never make their own accounts. Their teacher makes each one a login.
What you're responsible for
- Permission for your students
- At a school or district, you're authorized by it to use Cool Beans Tech with your students. At a program, camp, library or nonprofit, your program collects permission from each student's parent or guardian before they sign in. At a homeschool, you're their parent or guardian.
- No real names for students
- Students use the made-up usernames we generate. Roster labels are initials or seat numbers, never names. Remind students to leave names, faces and contact details out of what they build.
- Logins kept safe
- Use a strong password that's yours alone, and turn on two-step sign-in. Keep students' secret words where only you can see them, and make a new one if one gets out.
- Telling us
- If you think someone got into your account or saw data they shouldn't, write to us right away.
Fair use
- Use Cool Beans Tech to teach and learn, as the law allows.
- Don't put anyone's personal information where it doesn't belong, including your own students'.
- Don't harass anyone or put anything hurtful, hateful or meant for grown-ups only on the site.
- Don't try to get into accounts or classes that aren't yours, get around the site's limits, or overload it with scripts.
- Don't copy or resell the site or its lessons, or use it to advertise.
Who owns what
Students own what they build. Teachers own what they write. We may use either only as far as running Cool Beans Tech needs: saving it, showing it to the student and their teachers, and keeping backups. We own the site, its projects and lessons, and our name and drawings.
No ads, no selling data
Cool Beans Tech shows no ads and has no trackers. We never sell anyone's data, share it for advertising, or give it to an AI service. What we keep and why is in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
Ending an account
You can ask us to delete your account at any time. Deleting it also deletes the classes you made and their students' logins and work, your organization and the record of what you agreed to. Archived classes are deleted on their own 12 months after archiving.
We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms or puts students at risk. When we can, we'll tell you first and give you time to save your students' work.
Changes
If we change these terms, the date at the top changes and you'll be asked to agree to the new version the next time you sign in. If we ever start charging, we'll tell you before anything you use changes.
The fine print
We work hard to keep Cool Beans Tech running, safe and correct, but we provide it as it is, without promises that it will always be available or free of mistakes. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses, or for more than you paid us in the last 12 months.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, and any dispute goes to the courts in Tennessee.
